Who We Are
Twin City Knitting Company, Incorporated, headquartered in Conover, North Carolina, is an international hosiery company specializing in athletic socks. Twin City Knitting was founded by Dewey A. Houston in January 1960. He began by producing men’s argyle hosiery, but within two years he was asked to begin production of stirrup hosiery. A year later, Mr. Houston was exclusively in the sporting goods industry. Twin City Knitting, with plants located throughout the local Catawba Valley, manufactures an expanded line of quality knit socks, knit hats and caps. Twin City Knitting diversified facilities include a knitting and finishing plant, corporate office and distribution center, regional warehouse and an embroidery and screen printing facility. Twin City Knitting’s growth has been steady due mainly to our simple business philosophy, offer quality merchandise at a fair price and always give courteous service and dependable delivery and to “keep it simple, do it right, and do it better than anyone else.”
In August of 1995, Mr. Houston sold Twin City to Mr. Fran Davis, Mr. Joey Lamb and Mr. Paul Boyd. Mr. Davis, Mr. Lamb and Mr. Boyd worked under Mr. Houston’s leadership for many years and are continuing in the same tradition which has made Twin City a leader in the Sporting Goods Industry.
As a domestic manufacturer, Twin City Knitting is capable of producing short runs with short lead times, as well as producing custom styles and products. Additionally, Twin City Knitting currently handles an extensive list of private branded labels, as well as a direct importer of knitted products.
